YMO Recovered From the Serious Downtime

I had noticed there was downtime for Your Money Online now and then in the past months, but it was temporary and back online soon. However this time it the most serious one lasting for about one day. Fortunately the problem is fixed and YMO is available again.

It was February 13th that I received a notice from ServiceUptime reporting that Your Money Online went down. I then tried to open YMO at once and the site was proved downtime again:”Database Error: Unable to connect to the database: Could not connect to MySQL”. And after a few minutes, I tried another time and failed to open my site again.

I then was informed by IXwebhosting live chat that there was problem on the MySQL server and it would take 4 to 24 hours to solve this problem.

I don't know the exact time when they solved the problem, but the ServiceUptime had 8 failed checks in Feb 13th, that means at least total 4 hours. And in Feb 14th morning I can open YMO again. This downtime affected the service uptime badly and the total 2009 uptime of YMO now is 98.623%, not as guaranteed 99.9%.

Although some websites of my clients hosted on IXwebhosting servers are still stable and they are happy with this web hosting provider, my experience asked me to remind you to consider carefully before you sign up with IXwebhosting.

As for myself and YMO, I would like to stay with IXwebhosting, but I will monitor the server status more carefully. Maybe I need to use the paid website monitoring service from ServiceUptime instead of its free service.

If the server is still unstable and has downtime frequently, I will consider moving YMO to other hosting companies, such as HostGator Web Hosting , BlueHost or Lunarpages .
